The Northeast Nebraska Network Consortium (NNNC) approached Dascom to upgrade their distance learning network to IP video on a short timeframe. With a period of 50 days from time of order to start of school, Dascom successfully met the needs of NNNC and installed over 300 Polycom codecs into 90 K-12 and higher education schools for the NNNC, and additionally completed five room moves and one new classroom.Standout Features
With the new functionality the NNNC, consisting of Education Service Unit (ESU) #1, 2, 7, 8 and 17, can now transport IP video over the Nebraska network for enhanced distance learning capabilities. With the installation of the Eastview Industries DL-Hub, the NNNC classrooms now have far-end control and automated room power on/off via the statewide scheduler from Renovo software.Integrated Equipment
Each classroom already showcased five high-resolution flat plasma displays from LG, Sony pan/tilt/zoom cameras, and a Canon document camera. The IP upgrade includes the following equipment for each school:
- 3 Polycom VSX7000 codecs
- 1 Eastview Industries DL-Navigator Control System
- 1 Eastview Industries DL-Hub (for far-end control and automated room power on/off through the statewide Renovo scheduler)
Vital Collaboration
During the project, Dascom worked with various partners including ESU network personnel, Cisco, Polycom, ClearOne and Qwest to ensure the rooms had the right equipment and transport for the functionality NNNC needed. ESU network directors, operations coordinators and Dascom personnel all collaborated for a very smooth project.Click here to read more about Dascom Education AV systems.
